30 Day Freegan

Hundreds of millions of hungry people in our world while resources are wasted. Our consume, throw-away style of living doesn't seem to fully address some problems.

Wed, Feb 3 (4 weeks ago) was the first day on record that I confidently consumed only from the waste-stream. Today marks 1 month straight without buying food or eating handouts. I was wondering when my official Freegan Badge will arrive in the mail.

How Stuff Works: Freegans

Shared Dinner with Kyle. I've still gotta go do a sweep of the campus on my way home tonight. Research is needed on the average amount Americans spend each day on food. I would like to begin investing the money not being spent on food, towards something good. Imagine if typical cost per day is $5.00. $5 x 30 days is $150. Kyle has some thoughts on investing the funds towards growing rice in Uganda. That got me thinking about rice and feeding people. I need to gather some ideas on investing the money, possible making profit, then having a good ol'fashioned return to go towards saving peoples lives. 30 days, then, just ain't enough. If a substantial investment is going to be made, I'll have to keep piggy banking the food money.

BREAKFAST: mixed veggies

LUNCH: bacon & egg muffin, beef taco salad nachos

DINNER: Bagel, noodle salad, apple, sugar cookie, cherry tomato
